ART4LIFE
The online art auction concept is not new, this is already being done both in Europe and in America and it was just a matter of time before it came here.
Difficult retailing in Australia is also not new. New ways have to be found to take our product to the market place and the Internet is usually thought to be the answer.
Should Galleries abandon their shopfronts then and move on line?
We don't believe so.
However many will now try to convince artists that this is the way to go by offering lower commissions and encouraging them to abandon the traditional art gallery representation.
It is therefore important for Galleries and Art Dealers to understand that Art4Life supports the Gallery System.
You will never find an Artist with work for sale on this site who is not represented by an Art Gallery or Art Dealer and as such, buyers will come to understand that to purchase from Art4life is the same as purchasing from your gallery and that your Artist's work will not be found anywhere else at a discounted price.
To press this point further we enable you to have your Gallery Banner permanently displayed wherever your Artists work is exhibited on the site, with a live link back to your own web site.
This strengthens the bond between Artist and Gallery while driving traffic to your own website, thereby raising your own site's visibility on the internet.
(It is an acknowledged fact that most internet traffic is generated by links between sites)
Art4Life does not act as an auctioneer, does not take or receive commissions, does not act as an agent, we believe this remains a matter to be negotiated between the Gallery and the Artist, however to protect your Gallery's business, to build confidence and sales, Art4Life recommends you have a legal contract with your chosen Artists. They are a valuable asset and the reason you are in business.
Keeping it simple: With Art4Life the buyer deals directly with the gallery, the funds go directly into your bank account, the transaction is between buyer and seller exclusively.
Our conditions state: 10% of the purchase price payed immediately upon a bidder being successful directly into your account, the balance within 7 Days, (To facilitate this we ask you open an internationally recognised Pay Pal account)
Our costs are transparent, an annual subscription:
Gallery Registration $104.00 per annum - Artist Registration: Basic $52.00 per annum - Premium: $104.00 per annum - Banner advertising $104.00 per annum
Art4Life is NOT an Online Art Gallery: We do not sell art, we act simply as an extension of your shopfront, the facilitator enabling your artists and your gallery to have a portal to the National and International art market at a very small cost.
You are in charge: With Art4Life a Gallery can add their artist's work to the site, add curators comments, lock their own Galleries banner to that artist's profile.
So where ever your artist's profile or work is displayed so will your gallery's banner be displayed, naturally with live links back to your web site.
Because we dont take commissions and support the gallery system we are happy to point buyers to your gallery.
Auction or buy now.: Do you think an Auction looks too much like discounting? With Art4Life you have the option of setting a Buy Now price with no auction.
The Art4Life Compendium: Not a coffee table book but a reference guide to our registered Artists and Art Galleries, distributed strategically to our National data base.
The Observer, For what's on and where: Our National e-Newsletter with a wide and growing circulation, be sure we receive your listings two weeks in advance to obtain maximum exposure for your Artists and exhibition openings.
Free: Art competitions, art workshops and associated event listings.

RECENT STATISTICS REGARDING ONLINE RETAILING
"Record online profits for Australians" who's buying?
During the past year, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals, Australian businesses have taken $143 billion worth of Internet orders, an increase of 15% over the previous year. This suggests a fundamental change is occurring in people’s shopping habits with an adverse effect on traditional bricks and mortar retailers.
Recent research has indicated that world-wide e-commerce including online retail sales, travel and motor vehicle
purchases will increase by 13.5% annually for the next four years. Reaching an estimated $1.4 trillion by 2015.
Australian online purchases currently represent about 5-6% of total retail sales. Research indicates online retail will account for a massive 27% of retail sales within the next four years. This will have a catastrophic effect on the Australian bricks and mortar retail sector, currently worth about $250 billion in annual sales.
The pandora’s box has been opened and there’s no doubt online retail will dominate all future transactions. Certainly overseas trends in countries like Great Britain and the USA indicate rapid future growth. Whatever happens, we will almost certainly witness major changes.

All eyes are on Australia’s online consumers
Posted on 7 tweets retweet September 18th, 2011
Last week, one of the UKs most successful online retailers ASOS launched in Australia. This is just another timely reminder of the online opportunity that exists for Australian retailers. And although traditional bricks and mortar retailers have begun investing in eCommerce, a recent report entitled “Why the Largest Australian Retailers Are Losing the Online Battle”, found that Australian retailers are still lagging behind the US and the UK when it comes to online retailing.
With a host of new research recently released, there is no wonder why all global brands have their eyes on Australian shores.
Here is a summary of 10 of the best / most interesting online retailing statistics for Australia.
1. More online sales going overseas: A new report by eMarketing Connected highlighted that 44% of all online retail sales will go to offshore sites this year a rise from 40% last year.
2. Online Sales Flourishing: According to Frost & Sullivan, Australians will spend more than $13.6 billion online in 2011, an increase of 13 per cent on last year’s $12 billion.
3. Onward & Upward: Frost & Sullivan predicts online spending will grow at least twice as fast as the total retail market over the next four years and by 2015 online spending by Australians will reach $21.7 billion.
4. We are spending more online monthly; Typically, the value of internet purchases by Australians grew from an average of $179 a month in 2007 to $206 a month today.
5. Are we buying frequently online? Research conducted by Swinburne University has found a quarter of Australians are buying online at least once a week whilst, 53 per cent of Australians buy something from the internet at least once a month.
6. Older Generations Don’t Buy Online – Or Do They? Shoppers aged 50-64 have increased their monthly spend online from $157 to $258, and those aged over 65 have increased from $105 to $135 a month.
7. Still number 1 for research; 85 percent of Australians, who are connected to the Internet, are using online access to research, compare and seek advice about their shopping.
8. But how are we researching online? Australians rely on six different online tools to complete their shopping: most of them use Internet search engines (61 percent), while 50 percent check the retailer websites. Other common tools are newsletters (37 percent), manufacturers’ websites (36 percent) and Facebook (23 percent).
9. Let me switch between online and offline: According to Urbis 40% of online purchases will be delivered and picked up at bricks and mortar retailers.
10. Multi-channel marketing more important than ever: More than 65 per cent of in-store purchases are initiated on the Web, which highlights the need for an online offer integrated with in-store experiences.
